» TRUE NAME • Amusement
» NAME • Reverie Grace Darvill
» ALIAS • Rev, typically. Or Revvie, if you wanna be cute about it.
» AGE • She appears to be in her mid-teens, about fifteen or sixteen years old, give or take.
» GENDER • Female.
» SEXUALITY • Heterosexual.
|| L O G I N «
- - - ~ - - -
» HAIR • Light blonde hair. In bright lights it looks more yellow than it is. It typically goes down to around her shoulders.
» EYES • Dark blue.
» HEIGHT • 4’ 10”
» WEIGHT • 90lbs
» OTHER • Reverie’s true form is rather… well, think of a shakily-drawn blob-ish, white critter drawn by a four-year-old that has a body with crazy limbs without defined hands or feet. Attach lumpy head with two antennae, add on two small eyes and a tiny mouth, and that’s… basically what she really looks like. It’s… pretty pathetic; not even intimidating in a grotesque or creepy way. At best, it’s slightly amusing to watch move around and dodge things and wriggle. And if it wasn’t for her dexterity powers, she probably couldn’t even hold herself up properly. Or stop shaking.

» POSITIVE✧ IndependentShe relies on herself and no one else, thank you very much. She prefers working alone, being able to move around freely and do what she wants when she wants, at her own pace and of her own free will. She can take care of herself, and prefers being self-sufficient without any extra baggage or burdens.
✧ PassionateIn what she does put her energies into, she does it with full willpower and determination. She doesn’t step into things half-hearted: with her it’s either all or nothing. And once she steps into something, she’ll stick to until the very end, if not longer than that. But you can bet she’ll get things done; once she puts her heart into it, she’s a hard-worker, regardless the pain.
✧ PerceptiveShe’s very good at catching little details, interpreting signs and hints, noticing her surrounds. Not much misses her without her at least glancing over it before hand, figuratively or literally. She bases a lot of opinions on what she picks up, so it’s really good for her that she pays attention most of the time. Even if she does tend to over-analyze and see things in between the lines that might not be there at times.
✧ CuriousShe has a very inquisitive mind and loves learning new things. Things she’s unfamiliar with fascinate her and cause her attention span to temporarily become very long until her curiousity has been satisfied. As reckless and irritating as she can be sometimes, you’ve got to give her points for that eagerness to learn and constant need to ask questions about new things. Even if she is a bit annoying about it.
✧ AffectionateNormally Reverie doesn’t like people that much, as much as she – unfortunately – needs them. However, there have been known to be exceptions to the general rule, and once she decides she likes someone, she gets very affectionateand clingy. Pats on the back, hair-ruffling, hugs, nuzzling – the whole package. If she likes you. …Which is kind of a pretty big if, but let’s not concentrate on that.
» NEGATIVE✦ ShyHonestly, she’s just really skittish around people. She doesn’t like having much interaction partly because of her ridiculously independent mindset, true, but a large part is that… she just doesn’t know how to exactly properly talk with others, or interact with them, never mind make friends. So she does her best to avoid them, considering she’s quite awkward [or at least feels really awkward] whenever she’s in social situations – stuttering, stumbling over her words, fidgeting, chewing her hair and nails, looking all over the place, etc.
✦ ImpulsiveShe has a tendency to just act out of instinct or will without thinking about things first, especially whenever she’s under pressure. If an idea crosses her head and it seems like something good, or useful for the situation at the moment, chances are she’ll do it. From some sort of action, to speaking whatever her thoughts are, unless the situation is dire or she’s full conscious about her actions and what she can cause, chances are they’ll be on an impulse. She can be quite reckless, really. Especially with words – shy and self-conscious as she is, she often blurts out all the snarky, sassy and sarcastic remarks that pop in her head before thinking about whether or not it’s appropriate to say.Which is really just adding to her shyness and anxiety in social situations.
✦ DishonestOut of all the things you do, do not trust her. She always has been and never will be more than a liar, a conman and a thief – or so she says. If she doesn’t want to tell the truth, she’ll tell a lie close enough so that it’s plausible but misleading. She’ll trick you if she has to – she’s quick and good at that – and if she can, she’ll steal whatever you’ve got off your pockets, thank ya ma’am. She doesn’t trust people as a general rule, so she figures everyone else must mistrust one another until proven otherwise too. And unless you’ve really become someone special to her she’d actually think twice about leaving, don’t expect her to stick around or play the hero. Unless it’s on an impulse or for an ulterior motive, she won’t rush in and try to help or save you – the instincts of survival and self-preservation are rather prominent in her.
✦ StubbornGetting her to change her mind is a difficult feat. She might be unsure of things initially, but once she forms an opinion or stance on the matter, she doesn’t like to change it. She’ll stand her ground when it comes to her beliefs, even if she figures out halfway through an argument that she’s wrong. She’ll continue fighting, even if it is a losing battle. Her not wanting to have to admit to the shame and embarrassment of being wrong only fuels her stubbornness too, I might add. But overall, she really hates having to change her mind.
✦ SnarkyShe is so snarky. So veryvery snarky; she’s practically the queen of snark. It’s kind of an automatic defensive behavior for her towards others, when she’s uncomfortable and/or feels like she’s being made fun of, accused, under the spotlight, etc. The fact she doesn’t think too well before she speaks makes her comments especially snide. And she comes with sarcasm included! Granted, really she’s just rude and people mistake her for being sarcastic, but whatever. Same result.
» LIKES✓ New ThingsBeing the curious little thing she is, new things intrigue and fascinate her. Of course, she tends to get herself into trouble and just plain break things she comes across in her attempt to figure out how they work and what they do exactly, but she still loves them. Just… not so much how much Darvill yells at her for breaking them.
✓ MirrorsOr rather, looking at herself in the mirror. Not in a vain way, though – more of… In an amazed way. Being new to her form, looking like a human fascinates her and, quite frankly, she prefers this form much better than her original one. Her favourite thing to do in the mirror is bend her joints and arms and make weird faces, stretching her cheeks, puckering her lips, squinting or stretching her eyes – that kind of thing. So I guess you could say she loves making silly faces more than anything, but she likes seeing them too. It amuses her and will keep her entertained to no end.On a side note, she'll sometimes make spit bubbles and make them expand/contract, just because it looks funny. Shaddap.
✓ Sweet stuffShe couldn’t taste in her original form, but now that she’s human, she’s got a plethora of tastes to explore when it comes to food. Her favourite, however, are the sweeter tastes. Like chocolate and candy and sugar. It just tastes so good, she can’t help but get into it when she can. She’s rather like a child, really, seeing as Darvill has to hide all the sugary stuff up high so she can’t get to it. It’s only really teaching her how to get to places she can’t reach by herself though. And testing how original he can get with his hiding places before she finds them all.
✓ MusicShe really likes the sound of it, lyrics or instrumental. Especially with this whole "more definite vocal cords" thing she's got going, and the number of songs she's heard and liked. Don't be surprised if you hear her humming or even singing quietly to herself; it's a habit she's picked up from Dave, and will often do so to entertain herself whenever she's doing something menial he's showing her.
✓ FoodFood is amazing. I mean, she liked the stuff in the Dream World, sure, but in Alamira, just-- Wow. Ya know, for about 50% of y'all being quite arrogant anti-Nightmareish jerks, your recipes are fabulous. She just loves to eat, to taste - sure, she has some foodstuff she doesn't like, and some she doessugar being obvious, as listed above, but she'll try anything new, regardless how it looks. Heck, she's even managed to get Dave to show her how to cook, read, and get her way around the kitchen so she could make her own food! However much he might regret for the grocery bill, she's very grateful. She's not a bad cook, either.
» DISLIKES[/blockquote]✕ DependencyShe hates having to rely on something else. A guide, directions, charity, even using surfaces for support. Just hates it. The fact she has to rely on others to believe in her in order to even live is kind of a thing too.
✕ Bad JokesSeriously. They’re just stupid, and stupid is only funny for a little while. Making jokes about how “shouldn’t you be a stand-up comedian?” or “how’s the circus?” aren’t funny, and neither is doing idiotic acts for a laugh. And just… really bad word jokes, especially the “why did the blank cross the road” and “knock-knock” kind. Just. Stop trying. This may be news to you, but it’s not funny.
✕ Bone StructureThe one disadvantage to having a human form is the bones. In her original form, she was just a squishy thing – she didn’t have to worry about them, and could bend in any form she wished. Didn’t have to worry about getting sat on or stuck under something, either, since she could re-shape herself back to normal once the weight was lifted from her. But in the real world, she actually has to worry about which way things bend and move, and if she twists one thing the slightly wrong way, it hurts! It's not cool, man.
✕ SocializingNot only is it usually forced, but... she's really not good at it. She doesn't know what to say, how to act human, how to connect with them. She gets that a large part of why she's not being attacked or kicked back in the Dream World is because of the whole experimental thinga-ma-whatsit that Dave and his crew involves if she can act human and all, but still. That doesn't mean she can get along with them very well-!This is one of her most troubling areas, especially since she has weak empathy, and is overall too defensive and instigating when she feels threatened or embarrassed or doesn't know how to express herself.
✕ Anti-Nightmare SentimentObviously. I mean, sure, some of the jerks can be a real downer, but just cuz they're not human doesn't mean they don't have the right to live! Hell, humans are the ones that even made them, so if there's any Nightmares, it's all their fault! Don't act all so high and mighty and haughty-!

» LEVEL • One.
» TYPE • Neutral, though they could theoretically be used defensively, as in dodging.
» ITEMS
• Hair ribbonA ribbon David gave her when her hair started getting way too messy and in her face when she didn't want it to be. She wears it in a bow, now, though messes with how and wear it's tied frequently. Occasionally it is substituted for headbands or for a day with pigtails, but more often than, not she's seen wearing the ribbon he got her. She considers it her own little "Welcome" gift. Not that she'd tell anyone that.
• Charm bracelet (functions as ID)She is also in possession of a charm bracelet, with a number of charms hanging off it. There's not really any theme - there are some cooking-related-shaped trinkets, some animal-shaped trinkets, some candy-shaped trinkets, and letters that spell "Reverie." It also functions as an ID of who she is to Dave and his crew, though she doesn't really get this. She also doesn't know there's a tracker embedded in the metal. She really just likes it cuz it's shiny and pretty and the things dangle and she can bat at them and play with them and-- *cough* Right, well. She wears it most of the time. And don't try to take it from her, either. She'll hurt you.
» POWER
[/ul]

• Agility – Reverie is quick, and not just “oh she can sprint a hundred yards quickly”-speedy, but “hey you just literally dodged a bullet”-fast. Even without thinking about running or moving fast, she’s quick – walking, jogging, running, reflexes, swimming, the whole nine yards. It’s passive.
Weakness Reverie often feels the need to move about most of the time, so she’ll often end up swinging her legs while sitting, tapping things, wiggling her toes and fingers, looking for random things to do that involve a bit of movement, etc., just to get all the excess energy out. Dave calls it some form of hyperdrive ADHD, or RLS, or something along those lines. Unfortunately, her restlessness comes with the need to consume more for the energy to move, so she needs what seems to be ridiculous amounts of calories to keep from over-exhausting herself. Oh, and she moves at a faster rate than most people, even when walking, so she can get pretty impatient with you slower people.
• Balance Reverie can always find her center of balance. Always. Whether it’s on a thin stretch of wire, a shaky floor, fifteen thousand feet up or just doing a handstand or walking, her body is rarely ever imbalanced. Even if she’s tripped, pushed over or falls down, she can make a catlike-quick recovery so she lands somehow gracefully, without making a fool of herself.
Weakness Have you ever heard of the real Little Mermaid? You know, the one who felt like she was stepping on swords whenever she danced? Yeah, that’s what it feels like for Rev, but to walk. Concentrating her weight into one area means a lot of pain in one place, and spreading it out means a reduced amount of pain, just all over. So it’s really just how much pain can she handle in one spot for her. Thanks to her ability’s passivity, it’s an omnipresent discomfort. If she does too much crazy footwork, movement, and thirty different dances a day, too, her feet will start bleeding, even if she’s not cut – from between her toenails, where there are creases where skin folds, from her pores. She could technically try and avoid this by walking on her hands all the time, but 1) that’d look stupid, and 2) if she were to do so all the time, then eventually the feeling would shift to do the same with her hands whenever she touched something or she used them. It follows where her weight is directed most often directed. So she’ll often end up trying to use other surfaces to take most of her weight, keep as much weight off her own feet as possible. No matter how long she has to deal with the pain of her ability and how much tolerance she might have, it still hurts.
• Flexibility Reverie is, obviously, very flexible. Think to the level of a contortist - heck, if she wasn't in this human form, she'd be even past that level! But basically, Reverie's range of movement is more or less any movement potentially physically possible; she's multi-jointed, and even her ligaments, tendons, and muscle are of an above-average stretchiness. If she pulls some crazy move, does an large oversplit, or literally curls into an almost-sphere, turns her front around a scary degree, don't be surprised. It's natural.
Weakness If you haven't heard already, one of Reverie's main woes is bone structure. In this human body (however convenient it is), she's much more limited in flexibility than her true form. In other news, aside from the fact it can get creepy, she's quite prone to hurting herself through moving too suddenly or trying to bend in a way she can't (which do exist, and send shocking pains through her). Breaking bones is also a serious concern for her, since, again, she has a bone structure now. Or, in the case she ever gets back into her true form, getting stuck in an awkward position and being unable to ease herself out of it. Which does happen, embarrassingly enough. As a side note, she's not as strong as she theoretically could be, due to her muscles not being as knit together as they ought to be. so don't expect any heavy-lifting from this girl. Nuh-uh. Nope.

» FAMILY •
David Darvill – Well, he’s the only person that can really be considered anything like family to her. He’s an Imaginer that contributed to her creation, and is also the one that “observes” her – which, really, is babysitting her. Making sure she doesn’t get into trouble, do something stupid, doesn’t overexert her powers and start hurting herself, etc. He’s become something of a family-figure to her and is the one who named her, irony fully intended. With his surname, naturally. He's a nice guy, often the one apologizing for Rev's behavior, trying to reign her in. It's a comical sort of relationship between them, really. He works as a researcher experimenting and observing the behavior of Nightmares; his group's current project is if Nightmares can be more or less "domesticated," and possibly serve as makeshift guides to those who gather Dream Dust for a living. Hence why he's stuck with Rev. It's a bit of a controversial idea, though, so it's kept on the down-low - besides, if people fall for the "she's a normal human" ploy they're playing at, then clearly the answer is yes - or at least with her! To those not savvy on the whole "Nightmare sometimes coming into the Real World" thing, she's his estranged cousin's kid, as he himself is unmarried and still rather young for kids. pathetic. And, soon enough, a team who'd been enlightened about the Base's plot eventually caught sight of her, got her to identify herself, and retrieved her back to Base along with their cache of Dream Dust, of course.
» BIRTHDAY • Dave claims it's the 29 of April, but Rev thinks it's a stupid idea.
» HISTORY •
Though mostly kept in the group's working lab to observation and testings - most of which she was entirely confused about - it was eventually decided that letting her out amoung them for now would be a good idea. Especially since, well... what can a white blob-thing do out of the Real World? Nudge you to death? So after a series of months interacting with the scientists, kind of growing on them and learning all about humans and Alamira, Amusement eventually started to take on a vaguely humanoid form until - ta-da! - she ended up taking on the form she currently resides in.
After this development finally occurred, the researches celebrated (even gave her a taste of champagne, which she finds quite nice, actually), and within the week it was decided upon that one of the rookies involved - David Darvill - would take her in and try to normalize her to human society. Semi-reluctant, he eventually did, claiming his estranged and now-deceased cousin's daughter had come to live with him, named her Reverie (fully aware of the irony behind it), and... that's that. They still go in to see the other researchers whenever something new seems to happen with Rev, and of course they toss her in the Dream World here and there to make sure she doesn't fully humanify, but otherwise it's just... life, I guess. Whatever the here and now is called again.

» SECRETS •
- Have I mentioned she’s really easily embarrassed? She can just get so easily flustered, whether it’s being asked about a habit or being looked at too long. And when she gets embarrassed, she blushes a lot, and then gets defensive. See her snarky trait up in negatives if you need a refresher about that.
- Be aware she has a rather short attention span. Things can fascinate her for a little while, but once she figures it out, has it explained, or gets frustrated and decides to move on, she’ll be looking for something else to play around or mess with. Careful for your shiny, whizzy, spinny, buzzy objects.
- Reverie is actually… really new to this humanoid-form thing. She’s used to being a white, awkward blob-thing, and now suddenly she has a definite shape and form and she feels soft and squishy some places and then hard and stiff other places and she can see everything better and brighter and has a new mouth even that can talk properly and everything and the face-! She’s really in a bit of an awkward adjusting-to-new-form state now though, as well as what people are actually like (“Ya mean I hafta 'air clohz all t’e time?! Zat’s so veird!”) and the whole talking business, so… She’ll never admit it, but it’s pretty awkward.
- New mouth, new rules – she talks funny, as people love to point out, and in a bit of an amusing fashion. She’ll combine words and make lots of contractions, and sometimes her voice does this weird pitch-changing that feels so weird in her throat that her expressions reflect right after. She also has a different way of pronouncing words, no matter how Dave tries to correct her – she apparently doesn’t or can’t pronounce double-u’s so does a v sound instead, and she can’t do the “th” sound, instead swapping it out for… well, something else, if she doesn’t skip it entirely.
- Lucky for her, Reverie is not ironically clumsy, as you probably thought this bubble would be about. She thinks herself clumsy, however, as she sometimes stumbles here and there or almost-falls, but thanks to the consistency of gravity and centricital force (or whatever it's called), she still maintains her usual balance and grace in the Real World, and she's finding through constant stretching and practice, she's able to build up muscle and increase this human form's flexibility, which she certainly hopes will get her back up to something similar to life in the Dream World. Thank God. She'd never go anywhere if she was clumsy here!
- Also. It doesn't hurt to walk in the Real World. Just saying.
- Oh, and despite what you might think, Rev actually doesn't have a problem with the researchers who spurred her growth and did all that... fancy science-mojo on her. They're actually quite nice, however weird they or their tools or methods might be. that doesn't mean she doesn't still snap at or get impatient with or flustered by them, though. Obviously. But she really does like them. She at least knows them, and doesn't have to worry about acting all human-y around them.
Now if only they'd let her fully humanify... - And yes, she acts like a kid most of the time. She’s got crazy curiousity, no maturity, and as of late a more capable, durable, and easier to blend in with. Add her short attention span and recklessness, and… Well. You’ll see how she is.
