[/i] girls did such things. She hated it when she was told that university wouldn't do her any good and that she ought to start looking for a husband. And one day, when she was sixteen, she hated it, hated them, so much she just couldn't take it and she had to leave. She needed to go somewhere they would never find her, and then... she was only in the Dream World for a few minutes, but during those few minutes, she felt that if she left, she would die of heartbreak. It was dark during the short time she was in there, and she so wished she had a light! Then, in her hand appeared an obviously imperfect candle. It only burned for a few moments, but it changed Tesla's entire life from thereon. By the time she stepped back into the real world, she had already decided that she wanted to be an Imaginer.

Her parents, however, had different ideas. They'd just assumed that she would go into the family business. But Tesla knew what that meant - a secretarial job or maybe clerical work at the company; she'd never get to have a high-ranking position like her brothers. By the time she revealed her ambitions to her parents, she had already turned eighteen and was dead set on continuing to study to be an Imaginer. Tesla threatened to run away, but her father was unfazed. He told her that if she even put one foot out that door, he would disown her. Tesla knew that trying to pay for four years at university by herself would be extremely difficult, so she needed to come up with a plan.

And, within the next two months, she did. Her father's company began experimenting with Dream Dust. But many times the personnel they sent into the Dream World did not return. The company came under fire for the suspicious disappearances, but they avoided a lawsuit by providing the families of the victims with more than adequate monetary compensation. Tesla, however, didn't stop her own little investigation. Eventually she found out that the personnel were being sent into the Dream World without proper equipment or proper training because it cost too much. Some were even sent in alone. Tesla presented this information to her father and told him that she would release it all to the media if he did not pay for her higher education at the school of her choice, and all extra training that might follow. And if he told anyone about what she was doing, she would release the information without delay. Her father agreed. It was blackmail, pure and simple, and Tesla felt no remorse at all. Not even a little bit.

Now, Tesla attends university, where she studies to be an Imaginer. She never speaks about her family, never even acknowledges that she's related to them. Her anger towards them is her motivation to succeed.
